Get to Know the Trainer Behind Cassie Nugen Fitness
Hey, hi, what’s up?!
Welcome to the Cassie Nugen Fitness BLOG! This article is an introductory to me, your trainer, with a background of my own personal fitness journey, which is of course, still ongoing. (:
My name is Cassie Nugen and I am 27 years old. My husband (Isaac) and I have been married for 4 years as of 12/31/2022, but we have been a couple for 7. I have two sons. Isaac Jr (little Isaac or Saac) is 6 years old and Jonah is 2. Our cute little puppy dog is Stark and he is our first family pet. Currently, I stay home with the boys full time. My husband is a merchant marine which means his work isn’t your regular 9-5.
I have a bachelor’s in business administration and am certified through ISSA for personal training, strength and conditioning, as a nutritionist, and in online coaching. I became a CPT in 2021. I am a total book nerd and LOVE my crime/fantasy television shows. I love being outside when it’s not too cold, because I am a baby about the cold.
Fitness became a passion for me after having my first born and gaining a lot more weight than I had expected during my pregnancy. Initially, I got into fitness with the goal of just losing weight on the scale with no knowledge whatsoever about the health benefits, how its more than just your workouts, or that you can have goals related to your fitness journey that aren’t to just lose weight.
Over the past six years, I have learned SO MUCH through my own experience and education of health and fitness. I definitely made some mistakes and fell victim to many “trends” during my journey in the beginning before things started to click for me.
I lost 60 lbs. after my first born and maintained that until becoming pregnant a few years later. This was mainly through cardio—I followed the Insanity videos from BeachBody, used cardio machines, and walk/ran outdoors. I also tracked my food at times over the 3-ish years—only the caloric content because I didn’t have the full understanding of macronutrients at the time.
Then, during my second pregnancy I gained back all of that weight. I only worked out during the first trimester. Looking back, I wish I would not of gave up on working out, but life had changed
dramatically (we moved cross country from my hometown) and that’s what realistically happened. If I were to get pregnant again, I would be sure to keep movement in regularly. However, I did proceed to lose the weight postpartum. I lost 65 lbs in a little over a year and maintained that weightless for a little over a year more. This time, I did things a lot different because I had learned a lot from my first journey that worked for me, as well as I read so much information during my pregnancy related to health and fitness. During that weight loss is when I decided I wanted to pursue training because I truly loved how I felt when I was trying to live my healthiest life and I wanted to be able to share that with others!
Now, I no longer consider myself postpartum. This year (2022), I did gain back about 25 lbs, that I had lost. I had a rough year mentally and it definitely took its toll on my health and fitness—especially my nutrition.
However, I started the Get Fit With Cass Guide (available in the GUIDES) November 29th and in one month of following the program and loosely tracking my food I have lost 20 of that 25 lbs. and am 100% feeling the benefits mentally of getting myself back on track (for me). Now, I will say that I tailored the program to fat loss as my goal which aided in my results. *With the program, there is information that is provided to help you tailor the program to whatever your goal is—fat loss, muscle gain, improving strength, etc.* If you want to know exactly what I did during this month, check out the video up on YouTube with details on how I got my results with my Get Fit With Cass Program.
I will say that I do believe that your fitness journey is never-ending. One major reason for that is because I believe in working out and living a healthy lifestyle to live a better, healthier, more enjoyable, overall life for as long as possible. Part of that longer life would include working out and being active for as long as your body allows because movement is what makes you feel good!
